Theatre Workshops for All…

Theatre Workshops for All…

Lectures by Michalis Pieris and Lambros Lambrou...

It has been almost ten years since ETHAL last organized a workshop for adult theatre enthusiasts, during the era of Theatre Praxis. This was a frequent request from many theatre lovers.

This year, under the supervision of ETHAL’s Artistic Director Minas Tikilis—who has twice in the past directed amateur theatre groups in Limassol, including Tartuffe by Molière with Theatrical Poreia and The Exception and the Rule by Bertolt Brecht with ENAF of Ayios Fylas—the group meetings began every Saturday morning at 9:30 at the Technochoros. The weekly meetings are enriched with additional sessions and workshops featuring other theatre professionals once or twice a month. After the November sessions, where guests included Theatre Studies Professor Dr. Savvas Patsalidis (Friday, 25/11/11) and lighting designer Panagiotis Manousis (18/11/11), a frequent visitor to Cyprus for various artistic projects, the December sessions featured director and screenwriter Adonis Floridis. Next on the agenda are lectures by university professor and poet Michalis Pieris, who will speak on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 7:15 PM on Cretan Theatre, and choreographer Lambros Lambrou, on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at 10 AM.

Saturday, January 21, 2012
At the Dance Centre of Limassol Municipality (Garden Theatre)
Time: 9:30 AM

Who Saw Electra in Ballet?
A quick glance at my experience as a classical choreographer working with ancient drama and myth. Visual material will be used to reflect on my memories, the despair, and the challenges I faced in reconciling Euripides’ tragedy Electra with classical ballet.
