Playwriting Competition for a One-Act Play
In Memory of Kosti Kolotas: One-Act Playwriting Competition

There was significant interest from both within and outside Cyprus in the One-Act Playwriting Competition announced by ETHAL in memory of Kosti Kolotas, with a submission deadline of December 1, 2011.

There were 20 entries from Cyprus, Greece, and the UK. The titles of the plays (with the authors’ pseudonyms in parentheses) are as follows:

Priapos in Chains / Agamides (The Acharnians), Kiss Me or I’ll Die (Sphinx), The Road to the Windmill (Orestis Kimountris), History Didn’t Love Us – Kyriakos (Frida Zana), Figs for Breakfast (Kyriakos Savvatou the Fifth), Books, Milk, and Spring (Maria Alexandrou), In Motion (Anonymous), Shades (Achilleas), In Time of Need (Tennessee Williams), Choices (Kyriakos Savvatou the Fifth), Tribute Cyprus (Maria Alexandrou), Third Bell (Aris Triantafyllou), The Market of Tears (Emmanuel Georgilas), Cry (Zinon Graikos), Firthen-Migden (Kosmas Vasilikos), Delivery Day (Aris Triantafyllou), Cultural Communication (Nireas Sirokos), Night Visitor (Sara AR. 111111), Buying Hope (MC7), and 2047, Truths in One Act (Charlotte Gainsbourg).

The results of the competition will be announced in March 2012. The jury consists of poet and educator Vassos Venizelos, researcher and journalist Titos Kolotas, and Doro Iroas, representative of ETHAL’s Board of Directors.
