Nearchos Georgiadis: Book and Music
On February 28, 2010, the Limassol Theatre Development Company (ETHAL) is organizing an evening event at the Technochoros venue, showcasing the books of the well-known Cypriot author and scholar Nearchos Georgiadis, focused on the Rebetiko and Laiko song genres.
Nearchos Georgiadis was born in Morphou, Cyprus. He studied Law and Social Sciences at the University of Athens and took film studies at the Fotinos-Katrakis School. In 1965, he founded the “Friends of Laiko Song Group,” which was the first institutional group for research, collection, study, and promotion of Laiko songs. Since 1973, he has worked at the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation as a television director and producer. He has systematically studied Greek Laiko music from its roots to the present day. In the second part of the evening, there will be a Laiko music program performed by the musical group “Ex Adiairetou,” featuring Laiko and Rebetiko songs.

Laiko program with the musical group “Ex Adiairetou”
On Sunday, February 28, at ETHAL’s Technochoros, the musical group Ex Adiairetou will perform Laiko and Rebetiko songs.
Ex Adiairetou is a music group based in Limassol.
Their focus is on Greek Laiko and traditional music.
They have mainly studied and performed the urban music tradition of Smyrna, which is musicologically considered the precursor to Rebetiko.
The music ensemble consists of:
